Sheep Shit

While we've been here, one of our duties has been to keep the sheep.  At times this is the easiest task one could ask for - at others - it can be a little more difficult...

There are so many stories.  Where to begin?

Nate, going out & saving sheep

One of the first times Nate and I planned to escape the farm life we ran into an unfortunate situation with a little injured lamb.  There we were - dressed, showered, and for the first time in days, NOT covered in sheep shit.  As we were driving down the 7/10 mile driveway (which is a story in and of itself) my mother flags us down, JUST as we were about to get out of dodge.  Our poor little injured lamb had gone down in the woods and was unable to get on his feet.  So sad.  Anyway - my mom directs Nate to help her get this sheep back to the sheep barn.  He heads up the side of the mountain, mother in tail, carrying a nasty old towel.  They manage to get the towel under the belly of the lamb (who is almost full grown and kinda heavy) and hoist him up like a wheel barrow.  Now if any of you know anything about sheep - - they LOVE getting to their barn in the evening - - kinda like a horse.  You know the expression.  Injured lamb, who can't move his hind-quarters at all, takes off at full speed tearing through the woods, Nate and mom in tow.  Poor little guy ran them ragged!  We got him all set up in the barn, water & food within reach.  Poor Nate ended up with chigger bites that STILL haven't gone away and sheep shit all over his giddy-up outfit!  Needless to say, we arrived slightly late to our engagement that evening.  So be it.  Don't try to mix Nate, going out & saving sheep.  It's like oil and water, my friends.
